Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake

Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake Set amidst landscaped grounds, beautiful scenery, and a homelike campus atmosphere, the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake has been caring for our Colorado’s veterans and their families for over 115 years. Located near Monte Vista in Colorado’s beautiful San Luis Valley, the Center exhibits a great sense of history and tradition. The Center includes a modern 60-bed skilled nursing facility (constructed in 1990) and a 46-bed Domiciliary. The Domiciliary provides an "independent/ assisted-living" type environment with individual housing cottages.

Homelake resident enjoy a full range of activities, including fishing, billards, bingo, transportation to local shopping and attractions, and the onsite use of a library, chapel, post office, and market. With its rich and colorful history, beautiful grounds, and many historic buildings, the Center was recently designated as a “Colorado State Historical Site.” Several of the Center’s original buildings were constructed in the 1890’s when a group of local citizens together with the State Legislature established Homelake as a place for Colorado’s deserving Civil War veterans to live.

A new resident and family survey tool was utilized by the Colorado State and Veterans Nursing Homes in FY 2006 - 2007 and FY 2007 - 2008 to determine customer satisfaction.  The survey was performed by a third party, My InnerView Inc., who collects and analyzes data.   Homelake received the highest satisfaction marks within the organization for resident and family satisfaction and as a whole, the CSVNH were rated far above the national average.

Homelake is proud to be the recipient of the My Innerview  “Excellence in Action award.”  My InnerView is an independent 3rd party-reporting agency that conducts resident and family satisfaction surveys throughout the United States for 16,000 nursing home/care facilities. Only 380 nursing homes are receiving the award, which is given to facilities that have an overall resident and family satisfaction level within the top 10% of the My InnerView database.

A letter dated September 26, 2007 from My InnerView opened with this paragraph:

“This letter serves as formal notice that your facility has been awarded My Innerview’s Excellence In Action award, recognizing your commitment to continuous quality improvement.  You have demonstrated world-class performance excellence and have made quality a priority to better serve your customer’s needs.”

It is an ongoing honor to serve our residents and to live our motto, “You Have Served Us, Now Let Us Serve You.”
