Colorado State Veterans Home at Florence

The Bruce McCandless State Veterans Home at Florence is conveniently located to the major metropolitan areas along Colorado’s Front Range in a region long recognized for its comfortable climate. The 110-bed facility sits on 67 acres and features beautifully landscaped grounds and spectacular mountain views. The home includes four wheelchair-accessible courtyards, a large covered patio, and a new recreation area complete with a gazebo, picnic area and playground.

The dedicated staff is committed to providing personalized, quality care and a homelike atmosphere. The staff provides a wide range of comprehensive professional services including onsite physician visits, skilled nursing, rehabilitation and recreational services, wound care, behavior management and family support. The facility also includes a 14-bed Special Care Unit that provides safe and specialized care for residents with Alzheimer’s Disease or other conditions requiring a secure environment.

The historic town of Florence has an elevation of 5,200 feet and is located 11 miles from Cañon City, 32 miles from Pueblo and 36 miles from Colorado Springs. Florence is easily accessible by U.S. Highway 50 and Colorado Highway 115.
