Consultants for Child Protection
All of these consultants have
a wide range of expertise in child protection issues. The areas
of specialty mentioned below are those of which they have been most
identified for purposes of these consultation contracts. It
is strongly recommended that child protection issues first be discussed
in supervisory conference prior to requesting outside consultation.
Colorado Assessment Continuum
Safety, Risk and Needs Assessment (North Carolina Family
Assessment Scale) to be used in a sequential and integrated manner
for case planning and prioritization of services throughout the life
of Child Protection Cases. These instruments have all been
field tested and achieved high validity and reliability ratings.

Protocol for the Substance Abuse/
Child Welfare/ Courts Collaborative Initiative
A series of recommended and integrated practices for substance
abuse treatment providers, Child Welfare practitioners and court
officers to enhance provide the most accurate and effective assessment
and services to families and children being serviced through these
three systems. The practices and procedures suggested in the
protocol are intended to enhance the likelihood of safe and successful
families reunification, and to assist with timely alternative permanent
plans when reunification is not possible.
