Division of Aging and
Adult Services
The State Unit on Aging is dedicated to keeping seniors independent in their homes through the delivery of services funded by the Older Americans Act and Older Coloradans Act programs. The State Unit on Aging works closely with 16 Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) to create a comprehensive package of community services.
The following services are available through the Older Americans Act and Older Coloradans Act programs:
Caregiver Program:
Provides Information, Access to Services, Counseling, Caregiver
Time-off, and other services.
Long-Term Care Ombudsman
Program:
Services provided to, or on behalf of, residents of long-term
care facilities. An ombudsman is a resource for long-term care residents,
through whom they may obtain resolution to complaints or issues affecting
their health, safety, welfare, and rights. Additionally, the ombudsman program
is a resource to the community regarding long-term care information and
referral.
Money
Management Program:
The AARP FOUNDATION Money Management
Program promotes independent living for people on a limited income who are
at risk because they cannot manage their financial affairs and cannot get
help from their friends or family. For caregivers and individuals
who can still manage on their own, the program provides financial education
materials. This program-trained volunteer provide the help they need
for daily living.
Nutrition
Program:
Provides Group Meals in Senior Centers, Home Delivered meals, Nutrition
Counseling, and Nutrition Education.
Senior Employment Program:
Provides training, placement, and jobs for low-income individuals
who are 55 or older.
Supportive Services:
Provides Transportation, Personal Care, Homemaking, Legal Assistance,
Adult Day Care Programs, Chore Services, Home Modifications, and assistance
with items such as eye glasses, dentures, and medical equipment.
